I'm Daryl Claudio.
I live in Vancouver, BC.
I love tackling challenges, pinning them down, and kneading them with my brain. Kind of like Jack Bauer, but without all the explosions.
You could say Photoshop was one of my few childhood friends. Photoshop and I were best buddies since I was in the fifth grade. We have a more-than-just-friends relationship right now.
Anyway, my life as a web designer spans over a breadth of technologies. Since a lot of things can be explained better with lists, here's a list of my proficiencies:
- Photoshop
- InDesign
- Dreamweaver
- XHTML + CSS
- JavaScript
- PHP + MySQL
- What got you started in this industry?
- I got really excited about design when I was in seventh grade, when I began spending ridiculous amounts of time on designing title pages for Ancient Mesopotamia essays. This continued on over my high school years, and by the end of twelfth grade, I decided to do what I love doing in post secondary, so I jumped into the Interactive Design Program at Capilano University. I've actually done some web design back in sixth grade. If you look hard enough, you can find the site on Google. It's pretty embarassing.
- How do you overcome the occasional mental block?
- With mental blocks, I lay down and close my eyes for a few minutes and let everything settle. Sometimes I visually solve things in my head, other times, I think about cheeseburgers. I also find that a few rounds of Rock Band also helps. I don't know how, but it does.
- If you were an animal, what would you be?
- I'd probably be a bear, 'cause I like salmon.
